Walk Grades and Recommended Minimum Equipment
Hill walks vary from 10 to 18 kilometres in length and usually involve climbing in rough open country. The walks in this calendar are classified as either, Strenuous Plus (S+), involving an element of scrambling as well as being strenuous. Strenuous (S), involving either a very long or steep outing or, Moderate (M) a less severe hike.
These are less strenuous walks/hikes on road/track with some open country.
All walks start from The Square, Kenmare. All “A Walks” start at 9.00am and “B walks” at 10:00am unless otherwise stated. Own or shared transport required for all walks. The phone number opposite each walk is that of the person who can be contacted for further information on the walk.
Kenmare Walking Club recognises that hillwalking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
Prospective members are welcome to join us on any of the walks except those marked ‘Members Only’.
